Language models are fluent about companies they have never heard of. The fix is to let the agent check. Sprouts Data gives it a lookup by domain or LinkedIn URL that returns the record when we hold the company and a plain found: false when we don't, plus search across nine kinds of business data, with an answer that says how it read the question and what limited it. The agent can then say “I couldn't find that company” and mean it.

How does my agent tell “nothing exists” from “the search failed”?

Failures come back as errors with a code, and a failed call is not charged. A search that ran and found nothing returns an empty list; an empty degradation list means nothing limited it.

Can my agent use it through MCP?

Yes. Point any MCP client at https://dashboard.sproutsdata.ai/mcp. Claude Desktop and claude.ai sign in with OAuth; Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code send a key.

Is there a cap on what an agent can spend?

Credits are prepaid, and calls stop with a 402 error when the balance runs out, unless you turn on automatic top-up, which has a daily limit you set. By default the MCP server also stops at 50 billable calls per session and asks for confirmation after 20.
